When Naomi saw that Ruth had made up her mind to go with her, she stopped urging her to go back. Ruth 1:18 CEV

Happy New year! Trust your year has been great so far. I make it a practice to take some time to reflect on the past year and listen to what God has for me in the new year. While doing that this year, Ruth 1:18 was impressed on my heart. Make up your mind I heard, wasn’t sure what it meant so I waited to gain clarity.  I heard the Holy Spirit speak softly yet firmly, there are certain voices still speaking in your life because you haven’t made up your mind. As I pondered on those words, I read through the story of Ruth again and finally came to understand the enormous power and break through that comes when you make up your mind. Let’s take a closer look at the story.

Naomi had lost her sons and husband while in Moab, she hears things where getting better in her country and decides to return. While on her way back with her daughters-in-law, she decides it was best for them to go back home. So, she asked them to leave and they both refused. She then takes out time to convince them by presenting to them the facts and reality of her present condition. She said your chances of getting married and having a home is nonexistent if you come with me, you’re better off returning to your people and your God

Accessing things from the natural, Naomi was right. She stated the facts and she was accurate. However, Ruth saw something beyond the facts and she made up her mind to go with Naomi. The bible said, when Naomi saw that Ruth had made up her mind, she stopped trying to convince her to go back. The Holy Spirit said to me, certain challenges, certain mountains, certain voices will be silenced once you make up your mind. The issue is that you have not made up your mind that regardless of what it takes you will overcome. If you want that vision manifested, if you want your goals accomplished, if you want the victory, then you must make up your mind.

Truth is there is a level of boldness and courage with which you face life when you make your mind. There’s a level of confidence, audacity and clarity With which you approach life. Going back or quitting is no longer an option when you make up your mind, so in the face of any obstacle the only question asked is how do I overcome. There’s strength that comes with making up your mind. A tenacity with which you purse the vision and dreams God has given you. Making up your mind enables you take an inner posture of victory and boldness that allows God’s power to find expression in your life. When you make up your mind, you take on the posture that allows the impossible to fine expression in your life.

In the natural we have seen men who in spite of the facts believed in their visions, believed in the intangible, believed in the impossible, broke barriers, and made their dreams possible. All because they made up their minds. Henry Ford was told by his engineers the design he wanted for a car was impossible, yet he didn’t stop until it was done. John F Kennedy decides to put a man on the moon, a seemingly impossible task at that time and he accomplishes it. We’ve read about many people who were born and raised in poverty but decided to break free and they pressed past every obstacle and came into wealth because they made up their minds. There is something tremendously powerful about the mind, it indeed has the power to change the course of your life.

An example in the bible would be the three Hebrew boys who made up their minds to not bow to the golden image made by the king. They were well aware of the cost, they knew they stood the chance of death if they refused to bow. Yet, they made up their minds and not even the threat of death could change it. Their choice to stand in the face of opposition brought God to the earth. Could it be that our Father is waiting on us, waiting to display His power in the lives of those who would make up their minds to go up against the giants and goliaths in their lives? Could it be that God is waiting to display His power in the lives of those who would make up their minds to believe in the impossible and would have the courage to step out?

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I believe the same words to me are true for you. There are certain mountains that haven’t moved because you haven’t made up your mind. Actions, courage, boldness, and persistence are marks of those who’ve made up their minds. You can take the same steps as someone who’s made up their minds but your results would defer because your mindset, your internal posture is what determines your results.

Naomi is the voice of reason, Naomi is the voice of self-doubt, fear, and facts, Naomi is the voice of your challenge or mountain. Naomi would stop speaking when it sees that you’ve made up your mind. When you make up your mind to be grateful, you silence the voice of ingratitude. When you make up your mind to live in abundance you’ll silence the voice of poverty. Goliath will fall when David shows up, the promised lands will be possessed when Joshua arises.

Yes, there’s more to conquering the mountain, but the entire process begins with Making up your mind. Make up your mind to move to the other side, make up your mind to overcome, make up your mind to succeed, make up your mind to be the best, make up your mind to believe, make up your mind to be grateful. There isn’t much progress made in the valley of indecision or just trying, there isn’t much result born out of actions taken without deep-sited convictions on the inside.

Caleb said “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” Numbers 13:30

Do you believe you can conquer? Have you made up your mind too?

Love always
