The Power of Understanding:

Through revelation, the plan of the king of Aram was frustrated. He could not prevail over Israel because Elisha saw his plans and revealed them to the king. The Holy Spirit said to me – One way the Lord frustrates the plans of the enemy is through revelation. When He reveals the enemy’s plans to you, He is giving you an advantage, so with the right response, the plans and devices of the enemy over your life will be frustrated.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans. Job 5:12

A couple of days ago, I had a dream and it was a really bad dream. There was death, mourning, and more. I got out of bed with a holy anger, and a determination to cancel this evil dream. So, I started praying. After praying for a few minutes, I realized something was off, I was not connecting. I sat still for a bit, wondering what was going on. Then it hit me, I was praying from a place of fear. The dream had scared me, someone had died and I didn’t want that to happen, because of that I had responded by praying, but it was out of fear and not faith.

I knew that to pray effectively I had to get out of the place of fear, meditation was the tool I engaged, and Jer 29: 11 was the scripture I pondered on.

As I meditated, I said to myself God’s plan for me is not death, it’s not mourning, it’s good, it’s abundance, it’s prosperity. After chewing on the word for a while I got to a place of stillness, and that’s when I realized I did not seek to understand the meaning of my dream, I just assumed my interpretation was right. Immediately I prayed and asked the Lord to give me the interpretation of the dream. He took me to 2 Kings 6: 8-11 and made me understand that He had revealed to me the plan of the enemy so I would know how to respond. He had given me secret intel! Let’s take a look at these verses:

When the king of Aram was at war with Israel, he would confer with his officers and say, “We will mobilize our forces at such and such a place.” But immediately Elisha, the man of God, would warn the king of Israel, “Do not go near that place, for the Arameans are planning to mobilize their troops there.”

So the king of Israel would send word to the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king so that he would be on the alert there. The king of Aram became very upset over this. He called his officers together and demanded, “Which of you is the traitor? Who has been informing the king of Israel of my plans?” 2Kings 6:9-11

This is what He was doing with me. He revealed the enemy’s plans to me in my dreams so I could respond correctly; thereby canceling the plans of the enemy over my life. Honestly speaking I had no idea this is how God worked to destroy the enemy’s plan. If asked, I would assume that God does something in the spirit realm to cancel out every evil plan, I had no clue I had to be an active part of that equation.

You cannot imagine how grateful I was to God for opening my eyes and teaching me to understand His ways. Understanding is powerful, it gives boldness and stability, and it anchors your soul. Once the light came, here are some changes that occurred:

Fear was gone: As soon as I understood the dream and got the light from the word, fear was gone. No longer will I tremble at a bad dream because now I have light! God reveals so in partnership with Him I can respond and cancel every evil plan.

My Initial response was wrong: Secondly, this understanding showed me that not only was praying in fear ineffective, but my response of just praying to cancel the dream was incorrect in this situation. The King of Israel did not have to pray to God to cancel the plan of the enemy that was revealed, he responded by telling his troops where to avoid because of the enemy’s plan. And with that, the enemy was frustrated and defeated. Lack of understanding initially made me respond wrongly. We function at the level of our understanding, that’s why we must contend for light.

The right response was known: Once the light came, it taught me to respond effectively

In Prayer: – My prayers were more strategic and focused because I knew what I was up against

Mentally: I knew what messages I needed to listen to and what scriptures to meditate on to fortify my mind

Physically: – Because I had been given intel, I understood why I was having much pushback and attacks, I was not afraid, and I was strong and bold in the face of all the attacks because I knew what was going on. Light made me bold, light made me stable.

Indeed, for victory to be established on earth, God and man must be involved. It’s the Spirit and Bride that says come, it’s a partnership. When light comes, it does not just show you what God has given, it teaches you how to engage to see victory established.
